FROM snowmen and reindeer to snowflakes and baubles – people everywhere will today put on their festive pullover and raise money for charity.

Offices, schools, organisations and individuals across the county are taking part in Christmas Jumper Day.

The event, organised by Save The Children, is now in its third year and encourages schoolchildren to donate £1 and grown-ups to donate £2 and wear novelty knitwear for the day.

Now, in support of the day, the Daily Echo is calling for people to send us your Christmas jumper pictures.

It could be a snap of just you in your best festive sweater or with friends, family or your organisation.

More than 50,000 organisations across the country will be taking part today and of them, 285 are in Southampton, including Harbour Lights Picturehouse, St John Ambulance, the Royal Yachting Association and the city’s Royal Mail branch.

And across the county, Sunrise Senior Living care home of Winchester, Blue Star buses, Southampton Solent University students, the Wave 105 team and stars of the Kings Theatre’s current pantomime Aladdin have already donned novelty knitwear ahead of the event.

Since its launch in 2011 it has raised more than £1.6m for the charity which aims to save and improve children’s lives across the globe.

Daily Echo:

Save The Children works towards reducing child poverty and hunger, improving education, health care and child protection services in 120 countries, as well as helping save children in crisis.

They helped 15.4 million children in 2013 alone and they are currently raising money to support children affected by Ebola and the Syrian civil war.
