A DISTRESS call sparked an air sea search across Solent waters.
Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS) were paged on Saturday at 9pm, receiving an electronic distress call from an unknown vessel off the coast of Lee-on-the Solent.
The UK Coastguard requested the immediate launch and the lifeboat carried out an extensive search between Lee-on-the-Solent and Browndown Point, Gosport, before a helicopter joined the search.
The teams searched using thermal imaging cameras across the waters and on shore for 90 minutes, but nothing was found and there were no further communications from the vessel.
The search was terminated at 10.30pm.
