HE is hoping to realise his kitchen dreams.

Tonight millions of viewers will watch as a Hampshire chef bids to be crowned a culinary champion.

Sven-Hanson Britt, who cut his teeth in a Bishop's Waltham bistro, is one of five finalists in the final of the BAFTA-winning reality show Masterchef: The Professionals.

He will have to impress a panel of judges including double Michelin star holder Marcus Wareing, senior sous chef Monica Galetti and Masterchef's own Gregg Wallace.

During the semi-final screened earlier this month, Sven-Hanson prepared a main course of squab pigeon with salt baked turnips, lovage, smoky oats. His dessert was Paris-Brest, a French dish made from choux pastry and praline flavoured cream.

The 26-year-old former Swanmore Technology College student started in the catering business at Banks Bar Bistro in Bishop's Waltham.

A former student at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, he trained at Bournemouth and Poole College and currently works as a sous chef at the world famous The Ritz in London.

Daily Echo:

Despite his young age compared to some of the other competitors, Sven-Hanson says he enjoys competing against other critically-acclaimed cooks.

“I always go into a situation like MasterChef with the belief that everyone is on a level playing field: no matter their age, reputation or experience,” he said.

“It wasn't daunting competing against others, the daunting bit was having your food completely analysed by the judges and critics, and getting truly honest feedback.”

Masterchef: The Professionals will be screened on BBC Two tonight at 8pm.
