SCHOOLGIRL battling cancer has helped to raise hundreds of pounds for the hospital ward that has been caring for her.
Grace Johnson, who attends Merdon Junior School in Chandler’s Ford, suffers from bladder cancer and has been treated on the Piam Brown ward at Southampton General Hospital for the past three years.
Now as a way of saying thank you this Christmas, Grace has raised £337 through a festive cake sale and Christmas jumper day. The money will support other youngsters being cared for on the ward.
Carol Pugh, teaching assistant at the school, said: “I think it is inspirational what Grace has done.
“She wanted to give something back to the Piam Brown ward.
“The event was a massive success.”
