DETAILED plans for the first of hundreds of homes to be built in a Hampshire community will go before councillors today.

The proposal for 41 two, three and four-bedroom houses is the first stage in wider plans for 330 homes given the go ahead in Fair Oak.

Opponents to the develop-ment, off Winchester Road, had pleaded for it not to go ahead fearing it would turn the village into a town.

Developer Bloor Homes’s plans include a community building, play areas and a wildflower meadow Residents were concerned that 17 hectares of green space would be lost and they would face extra traffic, resulting in more than 30 letters sent to Eastleigh Borough Council.

But councillors gave the plans the green light back in February. The latest details for the homes include access routes, cycle paths and footpaths and landscaping of the 17-hectare site.

Members of the Bishopstoke, Fair Oak and Horton Heath Local Area Committee will decide on the plans today.
