THE HEAD teacher of an Andover infant school has labelled claims that a pupil has bird flu as 'completely unsubstantiated'.
A post by social media site, Spotted in Andover, claims that a child at Knights Enham Infant School has contracted the virus after suffering from flu like symptoms.
In the post, the anonymous parent said the child was 'diagnosed with bird flu' and had a temperature "as high as 42.3 degrees."
However the Head Teacher of the school, Sue Barry, has issued a statement to the Andover Advertiser claiming that this has not been confirmed.
"There is currently a child off from school with an illness but there is no evidence of it being bird flu.
"As far as we are aware it is not bird flu and the reports are completely unsubstantiated."
