THE mother of a missing Southampton woman has made an emotional plea for her to get in touch.

Mum-of-two Charlene McCluskey was last seen leaving work in Portswood at around 11.45pm on Wednesday.

The barmaid called police on 101 in an "emotional state" just over an hour later, sparking a four-day search.

Now her mother Fiona has urged Charlene to let someone know she is safe.

Speaking at a press conference at Southampton Central Police Station she said: "I just want to say I just want you to get in touch and let us know you are safe.

"There's nothing we can't sort out if you come home. I will help you climb your mountains."

Daily Echo:

Fiona described her daughter as a "brilliant mum" to her children, boys aged 12 and 8, and added Charlene was "kind, caring, non judgemental and lovely".

She added: "The boys love you and want you home.

"We love you so much; never forget that."

Superintendent James Fulton, of Hampshire police, confirmed the force had "significant resources" working to find Charlene but said they could not rule out her leaving the city.

Daily Echo:

Detective Inspector Dave Jackson said:  “We’re very concerned for Charlene's welfare and are keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen her in the Portswood on Bitterne Park areas at any point since Wednesday evening.

"Officers have been out conducting house to house enquiries, and we still believe that Charlene may be in the Southampton area".
