LET’S get St Mary’s rocking again!

That is the message from three Southampton fans, who are pulling out all the stops to make the ground a formidable fortress.

Lifelong Saints fans Craig and Vaughan Wilson and Rob Mulberry are urging fans to get behind the team by bringing balloons to the remaining four home matches.

It comes as the Daily Echo backs the #WeMarchOn campaign as the Saints push forward for a place in Europe next season.

Painter and decorator Craig, 49, from Warsash, tried to get the atmosphere pumping in the ground when he brought 200 balloons for fans when Saints suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool.

Now, with just four home games left and Saints boss Ronald Koeman saying that the team need five more wins to secure a place in Europe, Craig, who sits in the Itchen stand, believes the fans can truly be the 12th man.

He is also urging the club to bring back When the Saints Go Marching In as the entrance music to get the fans pumped up.

Daily Echo:

Craig said: “We always try to get an atmosphere going. Whenever the team used to have a relegation battle the fans were amazing and were the 12th man, but this year the expectation levels have made them quieter.

“We need the place bouncing for the Burnley game. It will really lift the team if we all show our support.

“If everyone just brought a balloon each it would really help.”

Saints are still in with a chance of securing a Champions League spot following a crucial 1-0 win against Crystal Palace last Tuesday.

They are just four points off fourth place – which is currently occupied by Manchester United – and Craig believes Saints can still make the top four.

Craig added: “We have been in the top four pretty much all season and I think we can keep pushing right until the end. I think it is going down to the wire.”

Saints play Burnley on March 21 and their remaining games at St Mary’s after that are against Hull City, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
