BUDDING sailors are facing a challenge that no seafarer wants to experience – 24 hours in a life raft.
Cadets from Southampton Solent University’s Warsash Maritime Academy will take to the water of the River Hamble from 5pm on Friday.
They are raising money for charity Sail 4 Cancer.
The life raft will be tethered to buoys at the end of the academy's pier head.
Last year the challenge was plagued by cold and wet weather, with force eight winds leaving participants sitting in four inches of water, but the experience is designed to boost cadets’ training.
To sponsor the cadets log on to sail4cancer.org.
