A SAINTS fan who believes the team have got what it takes to get into Europe will be displaying his true colours for Red Nose Day.

Ian White will be taking his top off and having the beloved red and white stripes of Saints painted on to him.

He is one of hundreds of people across Hampshire doing their bit today to raise hundreds of pounds in aid of Comic Relief.

The 53-year-old, from Heathfield Close, Sholing, is looking for sponsors when a barmaid from Shirley Road pub the Pig and Whistle applies the paint with his name and his age on his back.

Daily Echo:

When Comic Relief was held two years ago people across the country raised a staggering £75,107,852 to help people across the UK and Africa.

This year organisers hope to smash that record and take the amount raised over the £1 billion mark when people take part in thousands of events throughout the day.

Ian is one of those contributing to the good cause.

He said: “I have been a Saints fan since I was eight years old. My uncle took me to a Saints game and I have been a fan since.

"I thought I would do it because the red and white of Saints collided with Red Nose Day.”

Season ticket holder Ian’s pledge for Comic Relief comes as the Daily Echo backs the #WeMarchOn campaign calling on fans across the city to get behind Saints’ push for a place in Europe next season.
