FIREFIGHTERS have launched an investigation after arsonists were at work in Southampton early today.
Redbridge firefighters were called to Tintagel Close, Lordshill, at about 3.30am after a tipper truck carrying refuse had been torched.
The vehicle was destroyed and the heat caused guttering to an adjacent house to melt. The crew were at the scene for about an hour.
In the second drama, colleagues from the St Mary's Station rushed to St Mary's Street at about 4.15am after a bin near Afro City, wig and hair specialists, was set alight and the heat caused damage to shutters and signage at the premises.
A spokesman said the fire had the potential to spread but none of the occupants in flats above the premises had to be evacuated.
No one was injured in either incident.
