PART of a busy Hampshire motorway has been closed after a crash between a car and a fuel tanker.
The crash happened on the eastbound M27 about a mile before Rownhams service station between junctions three and four at 4.30pm.
It was spotted by an ambulance crew at 4.30pm who called for backup. Police and fire crews are also at the scene.
Officers closed the left hand lane due to fears some brake fluid had spilt on the carriageway.
It will remain closed until the vehicles are recovered and the road is cleaned.
Nobody is thought to be seriously injured.
A spokeswoman from South Central Ambulance Service said: “We actually came across the accident and called it in. We're still on the scene with one ambulance crew. Nobody appears to be seriously injured at this stage.”
A spokesman from Hampshire Fire and Rescue service said: “Because the fuel tanker has been involved in an accident we came just to check it out. We sent two trucks in case anybody was trapped.”
Lanes two, three and four of the carriageway are still open.
