WORK has official got underway on an environmentally friendly housing project.
The sustainable scheme will see six affordable homes built on Allotment Road, Sarisbury Green by construction group Interserve where a ground breaking ceremony took place.
Attendees included Fareham Borough Council leader Sean Woodward and Fareham Mayor Michael Ford.
Once the two bedroom properties are complete they will be rented to people on the council’s housing list.
This has been funded by Fareham Borough Council with assistance from the HCA’s 2015-2018 Affordable Homes Programme.
The homes will be built to Passivhaus standards, which are designed to be cost effective, deliver long term energy performance, reduce fuel consumption and provide health benefits for allergy sufferers and asthmatics due to its extensive filtering system.
Energy performance of the homes will be monitored for 12 months.
