FOR the 67th year villagers in Copythorne enjoyed a host of competitions, activities and music at the annual village carnival.

This year's event featured a fiercely-contested tug of war between youngsters and a traction engine, while there was a trek cart race between times of Scouts and Guides from the village.

Proceedings were kicked off by the crowning of this year's carnival queen, Mary Cheater, and the princesses Sian Read and Madeleine Greaves by Hampshire County Scout commissioner Adam Jollans.

An afternoon of fun also saw a family dog show, a martial arts display and marching bands alongside a family jamboree and hog roast.

The centrepiece of the day's festivities was the carnival parade along a three-mile route which included Copythorne, Bartley, Winsor and Cadnam.

The newly-crowned carnival queen then judged the best scarecrow or guy along the route while bands entertained revellers into the evening.
