IT was all about girl power for the home of Hampshire cricket when it turned pink to support breast cancer survivors.

The Ageas Bowl was lit up for Hampshire's NatWest T20 Blast match against Glamorgan in aid of a new breast cancer support centre The Haven.

As part of the ground's Ladies Day, young female cricketers from across the county took part in a pre-match T20 Skills Challenge to promote women in cricket.

Ageas Bowl Commercial Director, Stuart Robertson said: “We were delighted to support The Haven for our Ladies Day – it’s a charity which is close to the hearts of a lot of people in the county.

“But not only was it an excellent opportunity to raise a lot of money for a great cause, it also allowed us to continue our on-going efforts to promote women in sport and in particular, their participation in cricket.”

The Haven in Wessex breast cancer support centre will be based in Titchfield when it opens in October.

It will be run by The Haven, a national charity that works closely with NHS partners to go beyond medical treatment, to help patients and their families cope with the wider impact of breast cancer through one-to-one specialist care.
