A MAN was left needing facial surgery after he was attacked with a metal pole in a Southampton street.
The victim, aged in his late 40s, was walking along Brunswick Place, near the junction with London Road, when he was attacked by a man with a metal pole.
He was hit in the face and had his nose broken, which required surgery.
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at around 1.50am on Sunday, July 26, and urging witnesses to come forward.
The offender is described as aged in his mid 20s and wearing a white top.
PC Stephen Ashe, said: “This was a violent unprovoked attack. The incident has left the victim with a broken nose which requires surgery, but could have been much worse. We would like to appeal to anyone that was in the area shortly before 2am on Sunday morning to come forward and speak to us as they may have seen or heard something vital to assist our investigation."
