VOLUNTEERS have donated ore than £300 to help keep disabled residents get around.

Eastleigh Lions gave £355 towards three wheelchairs and a leg extension to help ensure their local branch of the British Red Cross could provide for the community.

The Eastleigh Red Cross, based in Parham Drive, on the Boyatt Wood Industrial Estate, loans out wheelchairs, crutches, zimmer frames, raised toilet seats and other mobility aids for up to three months.

In 2014 the Red Cross loaned out 111,000 items of equipment of which 83,000 were wheelchairs, helping 18,752 people in Hampshire, Surrey and the Isle of Wight.
