FASTER mobile internet connections are now available in a Hampshire community.
O2 has launched its 4G service in the Sherfield English area near Romsey. And the company says customers will benefit as a result of the upgrade.
Derek McManus, Chief Operating Officer, Telefónica UK said: “O2 customers in Sherfield English can now experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling. For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. For instance, they can work remotely, access cloud services and collaborate using apps. O2 4G can make everything easier for our customers.”
He added that besides the launch of 4G, O2 is also upgrading its 2G and 3G network in the area as part of its network modernisation programme.
Mr McManus warned that customers may experience problems with mobile phone signals leading to "intermittent services" while the upgrading work is carried out.
"We recommend that customers download the TUGo app which enables them to make and receive calls on any wifi-connected device using their mobile number," said Mr McManus.
He pointed out that O2 is spending around £600 million this year on improving its network across the UK. And within the next two years the company will have pumped more than £3billion into supplying 4G to customers and modernising its 2G and 3G networks.
