Names: Mike Rossi and Juliet Lynn

Ages: 38 and 49 respectively From: Lymington

Jobs: Mike is a maintenance technician and Juliet is an IT trainer What’s your favourite tattoo?

Mike: “The tattoo in the pic, although not actually my favourite, is probably my most notable and definitely the most talked about! I chose this word and location because it perfectly describes how I want to live my life and gives me an opportunity to engage curious people when they ask ‘why?’.”

Juliet: “The one on my hand that says “vegan”. I am passionate about being vegan because I want to live my life causing as little harm as I can – to people, animals, the planet and my own body.

"Being vegan is the way to go if we want to stop causing pain and suffering to animals, environmental pollution and destruction from animal agriculture and to give our bodies the most nutritious (and delicious) foods we can!”

What part of your body is it on?

Juliet: “It’s on my hand because I want it to be seen. I love to talk to genuinely interested people about why I have chosen to be vegan and it’s a great conversation starter! Many people are intrigued and have some great questions which I am only to happy to answer. I already have another vegan tattoo on my hip but it’s never really visible and I always thought this was a shame, so when Mike had his hand tattooed I was inspired to do the same, and it’s kind of nice that we have matching his ‘n’ hers too.”

Where was it done and how much did it cost?

The tattoos cost around £40 each and took 30mins. They were done at Black Sheep in Westbourne.

What do you like about tattoos?

Mike: “I love tattoos because they give people the opportunity to express themselves in a completely unique way.”

Juliet: “I only really love tattoos that are either chosen for their unique artistry/beauty or because they represent something meaningful to their wearer, or both!

I think they are a wonderful form of self-expression but shouldn’t be undertaken lightly. If all the things I did to my body when I was a teenager were permanent I would now be extremely embarrassed (big crinkly orange Toyah-like hairstyle comes to mind!).”
