A MAN was taken to hospital after his car hit a signpost.
The man, believed to be elderly, was cut free from his silver Toyota by firefighters which collided with the lamppost on Northam Road, Southampton, and was then taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.
The severity of his injuries are unknown at this time.
The incident, which happened at 5.30pm, last night caused delays for motorists as at least one lane is blocked.
One side of the road heading inbound towards the city was blocked before the car was recovered.
Two fire crews from St Mary’s attended along with a fire engine and rescue support vehicle from Redbridge.
