A HAMPSHIRE mansion with close ties to novelist Jane Austen will open to the public this Sunday, September 6.
Chawton House near Alton hosts a library of women’s literature and was once owned by Jane Austen’s brother. She was a frequent visitor.
The house will open from 11am to 4pm.
There will be a display on Pride and Prejudice with photos and ephemera relating to the 1995 BBC adaptation starring Colin Firth.
Tickets to the house and garden cost £6 for adults, £3.50 for children aged six to 16, and free for children under six.
Visitors can save £1 on entrance Jane Austen Museum by presenting their Chawton House ticket.
