A SCHOOLBOY is being treated in hospital after he was hit by a car as he was crossing the road in Hampshire.

The boy, believed to be aged around six, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital after the incident in Gregson Avenue in Gosport at about 8.30am yesterday.

The road was closed between Wych Lane and Nobes Avenue while paramedics treated him the boy.

He is believed to have serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Hampshire police said the driver of Skoda Fabia was not arrested.
