A WINCHESTER community website is under threat of closure due to council cuts.
The webmaster of littletonandharestock.hampshire.org.uk is seeking volunteers to take over maintenance when Hampshire County Council ends its free web hosting services next year.
The site, featuring news, events and local contacts for the villages near Winchester, could be saved by moving to a new online domain. Other village websites in the Winchester area are privately hosted.
In a notice on the homepage, webmaster Brian Holloway said: “I have run the site for the last 10 years and it’s now time for a change. I’d like to find a volunteer to take over the running of the site and to move it to a new home.
"I will give training and all the help I can so that the site can continue to serve the Littleton and Harestock community.
"If no-one comes forward then, sadly, I intend to let the site die when the council pulls the plug next year.”
