A DAREDEVIL motorcycle stunt rider will top the bill at this year’s Romsey Show.

Ex-world champion motocross rider Jason Smyth will be bringing his Adrenaline Tour – an awesome quad and motorcycle stunt display – to Romsey tomorrow.

Jason is one of Britain’s leading quad bike and motorbike stunt riders and he was extremely popular with show visitors when he last wowed the crowds a couple of years ago.

So expect wheelies and free-style quad jumps 30ft in the air.

There is no theme to Romsey Show this year but it is helping the WI celebrate its centenary.

And show bosses are keeping quiet about a special event the WI has planned for the main ring at lunchtime on show day – could it be more calendar girls?

Show secretary Penny Muxworthy said: “The WI will also be doing demonstrations in the food zone and also in the marquee. Romsey Show is where town and country meet and we will have something for everyone. We are very proud of our heritage and history and enjoying sharing agriculture and equestrianism and the countryside with all our visitors.”

Penny revealed last year’s show attracted the biggest attendance on record with more than 35,000 visitors.

“We normally get about 24,000 visitors but last year's figure may have been due to the fact we had a First World War theme,” added Penny, who pointed out that this September’s show will be the 173rd staged by the Romsey Agricultural and Horse Show Society.

Romsey Show is one of the oldest agricultural shows in Britain, dating back to 1835, when seasonal prize stock markets were held in the town.

She added: “It is also one of the largest agricultural shows in the UK.

Big crowd pullers at Romsey Show, which is always held on the second Saturday in September, are the cattle, sheep and horse classes and visitors always love to watch the grand parade of livestock in the afternoon.
