EMERGENCY services were called to Southampton Airport after reports that a vehicle was on fire.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service sent out pumps from Eastleigh and Redbridge fire stations after being alerted by airport staff that a vehicle was on fire near a plane.
A Southampton Airport spokeswoman said a luggage transporter vehicle had been seen emitting sparks at about 8.15pm on Wednesday and the problem had been fixed before fire pumps arrived.
She said: “It wasn’t on fire but it was emitting sparks and it was all over in a couple of minutes.”
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted that there was a vehicle on fire close to an aircraft but we stood down our response team because we were not required.”
