HUNDREDS of jobseekers have taken the chance to give their career prospects a boost at a major careers event in Hampshire today.

People hunting for jobs descended on Southampton's Novotel hotel in a bid to discover their dream job at the Daily Echo's Jobsfair.

Dozens of positions were up for grabs at the event with 30 firms covering a variety of industries setting up stalls to exhibit information about their company and what they could offer.

Alongside employers, the National Careers Service and JobCentre Plus were also on hand to offer advice with writing CVs, effective job searches and interview techniques.

It was the second Daily Echo Jobsfair this year and the newspaper plans to run similar events next year.

Companies offering job prospects or career options included Bournemouth School of Marketing, Harvest Fine Foods, Bupa, Rose Road Association, Gala Bingo, YMCA Fairthorne, Carewatch, Allied, Lloyds Bank, Team Brain Injury Support Medical, AQS Homecare and TBT Recruitment.

Other companies featured were NFA, Brendoncare, Learndirect, the Armed Forces, Autism Hampshire, Agincare, Apex Care, Reed Specialist, ACASA, Elite Care, Peter Symonds Adult and Higher Education, Biffa, Active Assistance, Impact Call centre and New Forest District Council.
