A SILENT auction is being held today to raise cash for Romsey’s Riverwalk Restoration project.

The auction is at Romsey War Memorial Park – the finishing line for competitors in the Walk the Test Way charity fundraiser.

Competitors on the Rotary Club of Romsey Test’s fundraiser will be able to make bids in the silent auction.

Chair of Romsey Riverwalk Restoration project Amanda Deeming said: “The Romsey Riverwalk Restoration group continue their fundraising efforts to restore the beautiful Riverwalk."

"If you would like to sponsor our walk from Stockbridge to Romsey, which passes the very stretch of riverbank we aim to restore, log onto www.justgiving.com/romseyriverwalk or visit our stand in the War Memorial Park on the day.”

The silent auction includes bidding for a day’s course fishing for two on the River Test in Romsey, one night’s bed and breakfast for a couple at 5a, The Causeway, Romsey, a week in a country cottage in Brittany next year, a lunch for two at Romsey’s Rum’s Eg Gallery cafe, afternoon tea for two at Romsey’s White Horse Hotel and other items.

All bids must be made by November 11.

“All monies raised will go directly to the project, which aims to make the Riverwalk into an even more valuable, and sustainable, community asset for future generations,” added Amanda.

Romsey Riverwalk Restoration Group is holding a public information day about the plans at the town hall on Saturday November 7.
