POLICE have launched a hunt for a robber who stole cash from a Hampshire shop this morning before ripping out a CCTV camera.

The offender grabbed a member of staff by the delivery door at One Stop in Sark Way, Basingstoke, before pushing her into a store room and forcing her to empty a safe.

He then demanded to know where the CCTV was and ripped a camera from its cables before leaving the shop.

The man was dressed in dark clothing and was wearing a balaclava. The incident took place at around 6.30am.

PC Stephen Gregson, said: “The shop was open to the public at the time so customers could have been walking to or from the shop at the time the incident took place.

“The shop is located in a busy area so it is very possible that someone might have seen something. If you have any information that could be relevant to our inquiry, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
