A WORKER at a Tesco Express in Hampshire was dragged along as he tried to stop the driver leaving as he hadn't paid for his petrol.

The member of staff was dragged along for several metres and was left with cuts to knee and back, arm and shoulder injuries.

Police are issuing an appeal for information after the incident, which happened at about 8.30pm on Wednesday.

The motorist had pulled in the shop in Reading Road South, Church Crookham, in his Fiat Punto and then drove off without paying.

The member of staff gave chase and put his arm through the open car window, telling the driver to stop.

However he carried on driving and the worker was dragged along before falling off in Beacon Hill Road.

There were two men in the Punto and the driver is described as white, in his early 30s and with a beard.

PC Jonathon Wood, who is investigating the incident, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, or saw the car travelling at speed up Beacon Hill Road. "I would particularly like to speak to the occupants of a 2013 registration plate, silver, VW estate, which was parked next to the Fiat Punto at the pump.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting 44150419188.
