FLOOD alerts have been issued for two Hampshire rivers after torrential rain.
The warnings have been put in place for Bartley Water and the lower River Meon following flash flooding in Southampton earlier today.
Downpours resulted in Millbrook Road West being closed for more than two hours while Netley Abbey, Abbey Hill and Weston Road along Weston Shore were also completely flooded.
Further rain has been forecast for tomorrow and the Environment Agency is urging residents to be aware of the risk of flooding.
A statement regarding Bartley Water says: ”There is the potential for properties along Woodland Road to be affected due to the nature of the river channel in this location, but no impacts are expected down at Totton or Eling.
“No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of today, so levels should fall shortly. Unsettled conditions are expected to continue over the next few days with further rainfall forecast.
“This will maintain the catchment’s responsive nature.”
People living in the Lower River Meon between the M27 and the Solent are also being reminded that water levels could rise.
