PITCH invaders are not an unusual sight at football matches, and particularly those with the significance of Eastleigh's FA Cup third round tie with Bolton Wanderers.

But one fan went closer than most to making a mark when he ran on to the pitch at the Silverlake stadium.

Running half the length of the muddy pitch he sprinted towards the Bolton goal in the second half as Eastleigh attacked.

And after Trotters defender David Wheater hacked it off the line after a shot that beat away keeper Ben Amos, the pitch invader came close to the ball and could have turned it into the net (not that it would have stood).

However he instead ended up falling on his backside in the muddy penalty area before being removed from the pitch by stewards.

Bolton defender Dorian Dervite scored an own goal to give Eastleigh the lead before half-time, before Darren Pratley equalised in the second half.

The two sides will play a replay at Eastleigh's Macron Stadium.
