POLICE are appealing for information after an unusual electric pedal cycle was stolen from outside a store in central Southampton.
The cycle was secured to a rack outside Debenhams in Queensway but was stolen at about 3.50pm on Wednesday.
It was owned by a 78-year-old local woman who witnessed the theft as she walked out of the store.
The cycle was hand painted, turquoise in colour and had black panniers on the back.
The man who took it is described as white, 5ft 8ins to 10ins tall, of average build and was wearing a dark coloured hat and coat and shoes with white soles.
PC Tony Brookes said: “This bike is extremely important to the victim, a vulnerable lady, it allowed her independence. Without the bike she is reliant of family and friends to help her with basic tasks.
“This bike is also very distinctive. I would urge anyone who has seen it, or is offered it for sale to come forward.”
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101, quoting reference 44160051871.
