THIS is the moment a resident witnessed a village telephone box allegedly being bombed in the early hours of this morning.
A massive bang woke residents in Bishop’s Waltham this morning after a blaze started inside a phone box.
The phone box, based in The Avenue in the Meon Valley village, was engulfed in flames at around 3am and witnesses have said they saw a group of people running from the scene.
One resident, Chris Barfoot, said that electricity was cut off for around 20 minutes after the incident.
A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service told the Daily Echo that firefighters were called just before 3am and found aerosol cans inside the telephone box.
The crew was on the scene for 20 minutes making sure the area was safe and the spokesman confirmed that there would be an investigation into the incident.
He said that they were called to the junction of The Avenue and Winchester Road and police also attended the incident.
