TOY guns being used as props in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang were seized by customs officials, star Jason Manford has said.

Comedian Manford was among the cast of the show which was recently performed at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre.

However, he said that after leaving Southampton and heading on to Ireland several props were seized at the border.

It is reported that some of the final scenes of the production had to be performed without the guns.

The 34-year-old wrote on Facebook: "Hopefully we will have the 'quite obviously' toy guns for the later show! World's gone mad?"

Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp, Eastenders and Coronation Street actress Michelle Collins, and comedian Phil Jupitus were also in the cast.
