A CYCLIST is in a life threatening condition after a hit and run.

Police are hunting the driver of a vehicle that failed to stop after hitting the 46-year-old man, who was found lying in the road.

A passing motorist called the ambulance after discovering the injured man, from Andover, who was taken to hospital with what is described as very serious and life threatening injuries.

Police are now trying to trace the vehicle involved in the incident, which happened in the vicinity of the Folly Roundabout, Redon Way, Andover at around 12.45am today.

The accident has meant that there are currently road closures on the roundabout itself, Raydon Way, Charlton Road and Western Avenue in the town.

It is expected to remain that way for most of the morning.

Sergeant Adrienne Jerram, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “The victim has been left in an extremely critical condition in hospital and his family are with him at his bedside.

“We need to trace the vehicle that hit him and the driver as soon as possible. I’m now appealing for help from the public in tracing the vehicle.

“If you have any information about what happened or become aware of any vehicle that has suddenly obtained some damage since last night please get in contact with us.”
