A FIREFIGHTER suffered injuries to his eye after battling a blaze that destroyed a cottage.
More than 50 firefighters raced from across the county to deal with the fire in the roof of a picturesque thatched cottage.
It is understood that a couple had lived in the property in Langrish, near Petersfield, for more than 30 years.
Among the firefighters called out to the blaze were crews from Eastleigh, including a foam support unit and a command unit.
The alarm was raised at about 8.30pm last night
Two people were treated at the scene by South Central Ambulance staff.
One of those was transferred to hospital for futher medical attention.
