IT was a record year for Totton’s annual carnival.
Thousands of people lined the streets from the start of the procession in Totton to Eling’s recreation ground.
Children waved as they saw school friends on the floats and parents remembered past carnivals.
Barry Davis, 70, retired from Bitterne, said: “I was on one of the carnival floats many years ago.
"I used to bring my children here to watch the festival but we haven’t come in years, I am really glad we wandered down today.”
The carnival theme this year was ‘Party On Down.’
Floats, marching bands, live music and steam engines were all a part of the carnival procession.
The event is organised by the Totton Carnival Committee and they aim to raise cash for local charities.
This year's charities are Youth Families Matter and Age UK New Forest.
