HUNDREDS gathered in Romsey today to see the marriage of the Honourable Alexandra Knatchbull, the daughter of Lord and Lady Brabourne, to her fiancé Thomas Hooper.

The bride who is a goddaughter of Princess Diana and 47th in line to the throne, looked radiant as she arrived at the church in an elegant ivory silk gown with capped sleeves, train and bow at the back.

Royal fans had set up camp on Romsey Abbey’s north entrance as early as 8am ready to catch a glimpse of the bride, groom and guests.

The Queen herself arrived with Prince Phillip and Princess Anne also in attendance - plus members of Royal families from around the world.

Alexandra arrived with Prince Charles who took her hand to lead her into the Abbey as Alexandra smiled at well-wishers before making her way inside – just seconds before a huge clap of thunder broke and the heavens opened.

In the spirit of a true British summer, the crowd simply got out their brollies and stayed put to see the happy couple make their way out less than an hour later.

Armed with white umbrellas ushers glanced at the skies, but miraculously the sun came out again just in time for the newly married couple to leave and give a kiss for the cameras and crowds.

Both the Queen and Princess Anne have been bridesmaids at Romsey Abbey, and the Queen and Prince Phillip honeymooned at Broadlands in Former king and queen of Greece, King Constantine II and his wife Queen Anne-Marie, Queen Sophia of Spain and Prince Hassan bin Talal of Jordan and his wife Princess Savath Al-Hassan were also guests. Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Florence Brudenell-Bruce was also at the service, as well as daughter of Lord Mountbatten Countess Mountbatten.
