A DRIVER lost control of his car on a Hampshire motorway tonight and ploughed into a hedge.

The man was travelling on the M3 northbound carriageway when his silver Ford saloon left the road close to the junction 11 sliproad at Winchester and careered into the hedge.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following the crash at 6.30pm – but it is not known whether the man was hurt.

The road remains open while emergency services work.

A passing motorist told the Echo he saw police cars and ambulances at the roadside and officers talking to the driver.

He said: “He was on his feet talking to police. The right hand side of his car dented. It didn’t look like anyone else was in the car.”

A police spokesman confirmed officers were called to the scene but said he did not know whether the man was hurt.
