ONE of Hampshire’s top beauty spots has been targeted by vandals.
A map which was located at St Giles Hill in Winchester showing the history of the area has been ripped up.
Parts of the map are still in bushes directly below the popular viewpoint. Also in the bushes with parts of the map are discarded cans of beer.
The viewpoint is a popular spot which offers spectacular views over Winchester and is visited by thousands of tourists each year.
Disgusted residents in the city have taken to Facebook to air their dismay at the vandalism.
One person said: “Why? What pleasure could they possibly have got out of that.”
Another resident simply said “Hooligans.”
City councillor Ian Tait said: “It is a spectacular viewing point and much used, what has happened is unfortunate and regrettable.
“Unfortunately it is one of those issues that is very difficult to stop that form of anti-social behaviour and I am aware of that because of what happens in the city centre.”
