A BOY has been arrested and police have launched a hunt for a man after an attempted robbery of a taxi driver in Southampton.

The victim was left shaken after a silver Vauxhall Corsa pulled up next to a taxi before the passenger demanded money while holding a hammer.

Officers are trying to trace the passenger who threatened the driver and a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and bailed.

The man has been described as being white, aged in his early teens to early 20s, and was holding a claw hammer with a dark rubber handle.

The incident happened on Windermere Avenue between 3.45am and 4.45am on Saturday, October 22 and police are keen to speak to any witnesses.
