Swansea are set to appoint former Saints defender Paul Williams as the club's assistant manager.

Bob Bradley has been looking to fill the post since becoming Swansea manager last month and after speaking to several candidates, has decided on Williams.

Williams, who took temporary charge of Nottngham Forest at the end of last season, is expected to complete the move later this week.

The 45-year-old's contract at Forest was not renewed as Philippe Montanier was appointed the club's permanent manager in the summer. He oversaw two wins in 10 games at the City Ground.

Williams has since been working with the England Under-20s squad after Aidy Boothroyd and Gareth Southgate took over the under-21s and senior team respectively.

As a player, Williams represented Derby and Coventry, as well as Saints, Stoke and the Richmond Kickers in America.

He becomes Bradley's second key coaching appointment following the addition last month of Pierre Barrieu, whom he worked with previously at French side Le Havre and with the USA national team.

Bradley is still chasing his first win as Swansea manager. They sit 19th in the Premier League ahead of Saturday's trip to Ronald Koeman's Everton.
