A PERSON has died after being hit by a train in Southampton.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Mount Pleasant Road after the incident, which happened at about 10.45am yesterday.
A person was pronounced dead at the scene after reports that they had been struck by a train.
Police are now working to identify the person and inform the family and say the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Services between Weymouth and Poole and London Waterloo, Romsey to Salisbury and Portsmouth to Southampton were affected but the line was reopened at about 1pm.
A South West Trains statement says: "We are currently sourcing replacement transport and will update you once this has been confirmed.
"We're sorry for any disruption this may cause to you."
