A teenager had his bike stolen at knifepoint in Southampton on Saturday after being targeted by up to eight men.

The 16-year-old was surrounded and threatened after riding his bike through the centre of Palmerston Park between 6.15pm and 6.30pm.

The men then demanded the victim hand over the bike that’s worth around £500, before one member of the group took a switch blade out of his jacket.

Police are appealing for information in connection with the robbery, with the group heading off with the bike towards the corner of Pound Tree Road and Palmerston Road.

Police staff investigator Jackie Little said: “Palmerston Park was busy at this time of the evening with people making their way home, dog walkers and joggers.

“Someone may have witnessed the incident, or at least seen the group of young men in this area, either with or without the victim’s bike. If you have any information at all, please call police immediately.

“We would also advise any members of the public who are approached by someone trying to sell a bike in Southampton to get in touch with us.”

One of the young men has been described as mixed race or Asian, around 17-years-old, stocky and approximately 5ft 11ins with curly, short black hair, wearing a shiny black puffa jacket, black jeans and trainers.

Another of the men was described as black, aged around 17 or 18 years, over 6ft with a wide nose. He was described as wearing a black parker coat, black tracksuit bottoms and black Nike trainers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PSI Little on 101 using reference number 44170063971.

The bike is described as a white Urban Mover UM36X electric bike.
