A NEW LIDL store will open its doors for the first time to customers tomorrow.

The store in Victoria Road in Woolston will be open from 8am, after works started on its construction last May.

In addition to the ribbon cutting, customers will have the chance to sample some products throughout the day.

During the opening week customers will also be able to enjoy 40 per cent off selected chilled food and deals on selected non-food products.

The new supermarket has replaced the empty Co-op building in Victoria Road and has created 40 new jobs.

Customers can also benefit from an extra 33 car parking spaces – the 82 currently available have been increased to 115.

The opening of the new store in Woolston is part of the company’s ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK, which will see the number of Lidl stores increase from 640 to up to 1,500.

The new supermarket in Woolston was hailed by Woolston councillor Warwick Payne who said that it will be welcomed by many residents.

Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, James Mitchell, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Woolston.

"It is wonderful for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.”
