A SUPERMARKET giant has officially opened its new store in Southampton.
Staff members at the Lidl in Victoria Road, Woolston, cut the ribbon during an official opening ceremony on earlier today.
The new supermarket has replaced the empty Co-op building in Victoria Road and has created 40 new jobs.
During the opening week customers will be able to enjoy 40% off selected chilled food and deals on selected non-food products.
Those who will visit the new supermarket will also benefit from an extra 33 car parking spaces – the 82 currently available have been increased to 115.
Cllr Warwick Payne welcomed the opening of the new Lidl in Woolston which is part of the company’s ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK.
The number of Lidl stores in the country is set to increase from 640 to up to 1,500.
