Police are hunting a man who left a Hampshire pensioner with broken bones following an assault.

The 75-year-old victim was walking in Abbey Road, Basingstoke between 9.05am and 9.40am on March 20 when a dog barked at him. He shouted back at the dog before being followed and shouted at himself.

The victim began to ran but was pushed from behind. He fell and lost consciousness. He was rushed to hospital for treatment to a broken collarbone and wrist, and cuts to his head.

Detective Constable Brent Williams, of Basingstoke CID, said: “While we are treating this as an isolated incident, the victim did sustain significant injuries and we are keen to hear from anyone with information.

“Did you witness the incident? Do you have any information about what happened?”
