SAINTS legend Francis Benali and Cancer Research UK are set to give one lucky winner a brand new car.

Last year Franny completed a mammoth running and cycling challenge, Benali’s Big Race, visiting all 44 Premier League and Championship grounds in just two weeks.

Now the former Saints footballer has joined forces with south coast automotive group, Hendy, to launch a massive lottery with a brand-new Ford EcoSport as the star prize.

“The chance to win a car and the gala evening will be the perfect way to keep the funds coming in for Cancer Research UK and the amazing job everyone is doing.

“We can see first-hand the incredible work being done to fund cancer research and every pound really counts” said the former left-back.

Tickets are £5 each and people can purchased online until the winner is announced at Benali’s Big Ball on May 20.

Hendy commercial director, Mark Busby said: “We have watched Franny’s achievements in absolute awe.

“He is a truly amazing person and we are thrilled to be involved with him and the whole team and doing everything we can to help raise funds for Cancer Research.”

The father of two is a charity ambassador and has been participating in fundraising events since 2004.

Fan favourite Franny looks set to hit the £500,000 mark once he has hosted the Gala Dinner, which will mean he is half way to the million pound target he set when he first started fundraising for charity - currently he has raised £488,000.

Franny is currently a key figure with the Saints Foundation that works within the community and is committed to ensuring the power of football can have a lasting impact.

He was also patron of the Children’s Fire and Burn Trust and is currently an active patron of The Dave Wellman Cancer Trust.

The Southampton-born player was a favourite on the terraces for his wholehearted approach. He famously scored only one goal for the club.
