FLORAL tributes have been left to remember a 22-year-old Southampton man who died in a motorbike crash.

Flowers have been left at the scene of where the man died on Friday afternoon in the woods behind Matheson Road, Lordshill.

Friends, family and relatives have laid down flowers with messages to remember the man, who has not yet been named.

One of the tributes said: “Always in our hearts, still can’t believe your gone mate, ride high buddy.”

Another said: “You were taken far too early and you did not deserve this, you left us doing what you did best.”

As reported, police and ambulances descended on Lordshill on Friday at around 2.45pm, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in a field nearby.

One resident said: "I was in the garden and heard a lot of police sirens and saw the helicopter circling over my house.”

Another said about 12 policing units including an unmarked Skoda, a white Ford Galaxy and a motorbike were seen in Buchanan Road just after 5pm.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed that an air ambulance attended the scene, where “a male in his 20s sustained life-threatening injuries, but he died at the scene".

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “It's believed the man had been riding in the wood shortly before the accident and that no other person or vehicle was directly involved.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
