Two of the world’s strongest men took to the streets of Southampton in the biggest strength event in the south.
Southampton strongman Aaron Page and the four time world’s strongest man Zydrunas Savickas, also known as Big Z, took to Guildhall Square yesterday to flip tyres and showcase their talent.
The flexing of muscles marked the launch of the Ultimate Strongman World Series UK qualifier, which is being held at St Mary’s stadium on June 10.
To prepare for the event, both Aaron and Big Z met hundreds of fans and performed what is regarded as one of the toughest tests of body strength.
Aaron, 27, is a gym coach at Southampton-based Winning Health Solutions.
He said: “It was great to have four-time World Strongest Man, Big Z, in Southampton today, what a great event we will have in June at St Mary’s.
“For me, the tyre flip and the log lift will be my focus and there is £5,000 on the line for breaking the world record of 228kg.”
The record was set by Big Z in 2015, with the summer event seeing some of the biggest strongmen in the world coming to Southampton.
They will perform in the giant tyre flip, log press world record challenge, car deadlift and atlas stones.
